Arriving in Vietnam 21 February 1968, Paul was assigned to Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 27th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Paul died as a result of hostile gunshot to the body in the vicinity of Go Noi Island, while participating in Operation Allen Brook.
Survived by his parents, Joseph A and Lydia Theriault of 33 Dudley St, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
