Atlanta - Ms. Annie Brooks (Brooksie) Jenkins died Thursday, August 8, 2002, at the Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Ga. The Bulloch County native graduated from the Statesboro High and Industrial School and Bluefield State College in Bluefield, W. Va. She retired from teaching after 31 years in LaGrange, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Claudia Jenkins; sisters, Mae Vinnie Williams and Mamie Mincey.
She is survived by nieces, Cynthia Mincey and Sheila Mincey, both of Atlanta; Sherry Ann McNair and Linda Faye Williams, both of Statesboro; a grand-niece, Phyllis Cone of Atlanta; and several other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Original First African Baptist Church with Rev. Frankie Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery. The remains will lie in state Tuesday from 12 p.m. until the funeral hour. There will be no viewing after the eulogy. Payton's Mortuary.
