After serving in WWII, Calvin finished his degree at OU in Geology and went to work for Halliburton. He married the former Bobbie Louise Curtess in 1943 and they moved to Duncan, Oklahoma where they raised their two daughters, Barbara and Jana. Calvin retired from Halliburton as a Vice President of Manufacturing and began a career as a consultant. He died on a business trip.
