Rev. Ernest Edward Pounders, 81, went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2011 at his home Magnolia, TX. He was born August 12, 1929 in Pflugerville, TX to the late Thomas Sidney and Cynthia Elizabeth Kelley Pounders. Pastor Ed is survived by his wife JoAnn Pounders; children Ernest Wayne Pounders and Cynthia Eileen Schoelzel; grandchildren Stevie, Shawn, Phillip and Kimmy; great grandchildren Christopher, Ethan, Dylan and Sarah; and sisters Marie Doan and Loreen Clegg.

He served as Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force during World War II, where he was an airplane mechanic. He was stationed in Hawaii.

Pastor Ed was a pastor for 50 years, of which most was served in the Houston area. He served at Eastwood Baptist Church for nearly 20 of those years. He was president of Evangelism in the Crest/Brazos Association in Bryan, TX where he was honored for winning the most souls to the Lord in his church. Eastwood Baptist Church contributed five endowment scholarships to Houston Baptist University under Pastor Ed and other members. Pastor Ed was educated at Tennessee Temple College, East Texas Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was presently a member at Crossroads Baptist Church in The Woodlands, TX since 2003 under Pastor Larry York. The family wishes to express their gratitude of appreciation to their church family, pastors, neighbors and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. Funeral Services are set for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 10, 2011 in The Chapel at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. A family graveside service will be held at 9:30 A.M., Friday, February 11, 2011 at Houston National Cemetery.
