William Marion Thurston was the first child of William Stewart and Mary Seymour (Ackerman) Thurston. About 1898 he married a woman named Mary A Oates in Connecticut and they had one son. The son was Louis Marion Thurston. Louis served in the U. S. Navy and is buried in the Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn, NY. William and Mary divorced after a short marriage.

William for a time owned a beauty Parlor in the Brooklyn, NY area.
