A Civil War hero, he married Ada Matthews and lived 74 years. He is written about in D. Reid Ross' book, "Lincoln's Veteran Volunteers Win the War". He survived 4 of the bloodiest battles in the war and was the first of the 4 brothers to see combat in that war. He suffered blindness from his injuries in the war.
Lank-enlisted on August 10, 1861 for three years in the 36th Ill, Co. C. He enlisted again for three more years on January 18, 1864 as a Veteran Volunteer. Contributed by D. Reid Ross.
