Ronald L. Hunsaker, 83, died at 7 p.m. Feb. 2, 2011, at Lima Convalescent Home.

He was born Nov. 26, 1927, in Cairo to Homer and Eva Wood Hunsaker, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 21, 1947, he married Wilma Downing, who survives in Lima. They were married for more than 63 years.

Mr. Hunsaker was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He retired in 1989, as a carpenter/millwright from Tuttle Constructions Co., after several years. He was a member of Carpenter Union Local 372. He had also worked at Green & Sawyer Co. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 96 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370. He enjoyed fishing and camping, and playing cards and games. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a man of all trades and enjoyed teaching the trades.

Survivors also include a son, Michael (Laura) Hunsaker, of Lima; a daughter, Rebecca (Bill) Hardy, of Lima; three grandchildren, Eric Hardy and Tina Myers, and Jim (Amanda) Hunsaker; five great-grandchildren, Tiana (Shane Bowers) Myers, Eric B. Hardy, Lainey Bowen, Abbey Hunsaker and Alice Hunsaker; and three great-great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Chloie and Carter Bowers.

Services will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Larry Trover will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
