Ida Dahlberg, age 87 of Milbank passed away April 24, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Milbank.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God in Milbank. Rev. Mike Doran will officiate and burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery near Strandburg.

Casket bearers will be her seven grandchildren: Thaddaeus Dahlberg, Ave Shalom, Tina Dahlberg, Robert Fonder, Paul Fonder, Stephen Fonder, and Patrick Fonder. Music will be provided by Shirone Spolar.

Ida Jannette Dahlberg was born July 7, 1922, at home near Wilmot, South Dakota, to Emanuel and Jannette Skogsberg. She grew up on the family farm in rural Stockholm, South Dakota.

Ida was confirmed at Elim Mission Church in Stockholm, South Dakota, on December 1, 1935. She graduated from South Shore High School May 17, 1940. She was awarded an Elementary School Teaching Certificate in 1942 after completion of a one-year teaching program at Wessington Springs College in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. She subsequently taught elementary school in La Bolt and a rural elementary school in the Stockholm area.

Ida married Robert W. Dahlberg on June 2, 1946, in Watertown, SD. The couple made their home at the Edwin Dahlberg farm in rural Strandburg. In 1959 they moved to Milbank, South Dakota, where Robert founded and operated Bob's Radio and TV. Ida was a homemaker, worked at St. Bernard's Hospital as a nurses' aid, and also did home health care.

Ida was a charter member of First Baptist Church, Milbank, and was an active member there for many years. Later she and Bob became members of Calvary Assembly of God, Milbank. She was a member the Gideons Auxiliary and served several years in leadership of the local camp. She accompanied Bob on mission trips to Mexico and South America.

Ida Dahlberg was preceded in death by her husband Robert, parents, sister: Myrtle Gates, and brother: Milton Skogsberg. She is survived by one son: Ellwood and wife Eva of Shoreview, MN, and one daughter: Eileen Fonder of Milbank; 7 grandchildren: Thaddaeus Dahlberg, Ave Shalom, Tina Dahlberg, Robert Fonder, Paul Fonder, Stephen Fonder, and Patrick Fonder; four great grandchildren and one step great grandchild: Flannery, Maewyn, Shaunie, Savannah, and Carlos.
