Darlene was the daughter of Fred and Bessie (Curl) Van Gorder. She had two brothers; Fred Jr and Lynne. After high school Darlene left for NYC where she became a dancer. While there she met Harry A. Evertz from NJ. They married in 1927. They moved to Packanack, NJ. They had two sons Richard W. born in 1929 and Harry A. born in 1931. Harry joined the CB's during WWII. He was stationed in the Philippines. While he was there Darlene moved with the boys to Ft. Lauderdale where her parents were living. After the war Harry joined the family in Ft. Lauderdale. He started Harry Evertz Construction. Harry died in 1961 and Darlene died in 1993. Her ashes are scattered in Lansing, MI.
