Larkin Adamson came to Collin County in 1850 and settled about 10 miles northwest of McKinney. He opened a store and a post office. He named it Weston after his hometown of Weston, Missouri. Weston says it is the oldest town in Collin County, but McKinney would predate it.

Larkin Adamson was born in Eastern Tennessee and married Nancy F. Routh. There are no known children who survived to adulthood.
