Calvia was born in Murphysboro June 12, 1910, the daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Bradley) Higgerson.
She married Elias Albert Doerr and had one daughter, MaryAnna.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Paul Higgerson.
Calvia was a member of First Baptist Church for her entire life. She was also a member of VFW Post 7190 Auxiliary, American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 and St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, all of Murphysboro.
Calvia was employed by both Brown Shoe Factory and Harts Pharmacy, both in Murphysboro.
Calvia truly loved traveling with her family, reading and playing cards with her friends at the senior citizens club.
Calvia is survived by loving daughter and son-in-law, MaryAnna and Robert Herd of St. Louis; grandson, Robby Herd, and his wife, Rhonda, and daughter, Elle, of Memphis, Tenn.; grandson, Barry Herd and his wife and daughters, Emily, Shannon and Ashley of St. Peters, Mo.; one granddaughter, LeeAnna Thessing and her husband, Brad, and daughter, Savannah, of Springfield, Mo.; and two nieces, Carolyn Williams of Murphysboro and Merldene Yates of Peoria.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, in Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with the Rev. Richard Kinnamon officiating. Burial will follow in Bradley Family Cemetery near Denmark. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
