Union soldier George C. Kenyon, from Knoxville, Knox County, Illinois, served in the 77th Illinois Infantry Regiment, Company F. He was a Sergeant who was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on September 18, 1862. By early 1865 he was a first Lieutenant, who was transferred to Company B of the 130th Illinois Infantry Regiment. On July 26, 1865, George was promoted to Captain, in charge of Company B, which contained 91 soldiers. Twenty days later he was mustered out of service.
