Prominent Figure in Lutheran Denomination
Rev Jacob Fry, D.D., LL. D.L.H.D. for many years pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church of this city and later professor of homiletics at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, died on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at his home at Mt Airy, from heart trouble, aged 86 years.
For the past week he had been suffering with a severe cold. Thursday afternoon he was seized with an attack at his heart at his home and died in his study. He was talking with his two daughters, Mary and Kate, and granddaughter, Mrs Paul Shearer when he was stricken.
Dr. Fry officiated at a funeral on Tuesday afternoon.
His wife Eliza Jane (nee Wattles) died last April. There remains two sons, Rev Charles L Fry, Philadelphia, and Rev Franklin F Fry, Rochester, N.Y. and five daughters, Mary, Katie, and Jennie, at home. Mrs. William Benbow, Buffalo, N.Y., and Annie F.,wife of attorney Phillip S Zieber, 1515 Mineral Spring Road, this city.
Seven grandchildren, David F. Benbow and Mrs. Arthur C Roland, Reading; Mrs Paul Shearer, Philadelphia; Mrs William Seligman, Buffalo, N.Y.; Rev Henry Fry and Luther Fry, New York; and Franklin Fry, Rochester, also remain, and two great-grandchildren.
Undertaker Seidel will bring the body to Reading. Interment will be made in Charles Evans cemetery.
