Elizabeth was born in Groton, Massachusetts. She attended Smith College in Northampton and was the member of the 1930 graduating class. That same year on June 14, she married William Davis Ticknor Jr. with the Reverend Endicott Peabody officiating. Together they sailed for France, spending a time in Paris before arriving in Grenoble, France where William was studying. Upon their return they lived in Concord, New Hampshire until William accepted a position with Commercial Solvents Corporation and they moved to Englewood, New Jersey. They had four children. Elizabeth was president of the Englewood Garden Club for a time and then served as president of the Englewood Hospital Auxiliary. After the death of her husband in 1965 she moved to Carlisle, Massachusetts dying there December 11, 1983. Memorial services were held a First Parish in Concord, Massachusetts and she was buried next to her husband at the Ticknor family plot in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge.
