She is survived by her mother of Meredosia; five children, Rantz (Sheila) Dunmire of Versailles, David Dunmire, Metzi (Tim) Ritter and Hope (Lonnie) Heeman, all of Meredosia, and Tamra Jones of Versailles; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildean (Harold) DeWitt of Versailles and Audrey (Gary) Fanshier of Meredosia. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Timothy David Ritter; one son-in-law, Larry Jones; and her stepfather who raised her, Francis Surratt.
Mrs. Allen was a 1961 graduate of Meredosia-Chambersburg High School. She had been a cook, working in many area restaurants through the years. She had also been a volunteer for the Meredosia Fire Department. Betty attended Versailles Christian Church. She enjoyed camping, and she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Services were entrusted to Buchanan and Cody Funeral Home of Meredosia, Illinois.
