Gary Lee Torrey, 67, of Grand Forks, ND died on Sunday, July 8, 2007 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Gary was born to Leroy and Margaret (Anderson) Torrey on January 13, 1940 in Fargo, ND. He grew up and attended school in Drayton, ND and was very active in all sports. He was catcher for the High School Baseball team at the time they won the 1958 North Dakota State High school Baseball Championship.
After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961. In 1964, he married Nancy Holton on March 7, 1964 in Minneapolis, MN.
Gary began his career as a machinist working in Minneapolis from 1962 to 1976. He moved to Drayton in 1976 and worked for American Crystal and later worked for the City of Drayton. Gary moved to Grand Forks in 1989 and continued as a machinist for several companies.
Gary married Dianne Kjemhus on August 29, 1998 at Elk Valley Lutheran Church, McCanna, ND. Gary retired from Northern Valley Machine in April of 2007. Gary enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and working in his shop.
Gary is survived by his second wife, Dianne, Grand Forks, ND; Children from his first marriage to Nancy Holton are Lesa (Lyle) Van Camp, Drayton, ND, John (Marguerite) Torrey and Michael (Tara) Torrey both of Grand Forks, ND; mother, Margaret Torrey, Mesa, AZ; one brother, Darryl (Carol) Torrey, Mesa, AZ, 7 grandchildren and 2 nephews.

Visitation: Wednesday, July 11, 2007, from 5 to 7 P.M. at Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, MN.
Burial: Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Drayton City Cemetery, Drayton, ND.
