Rootsweb has birthdate as June 23, 1819 in Niagra New York, and death July 21, 1897 in Kinderhook, Branch co Michigan.

The following bio information is from Enid Eleanor Smith Adams STELLAR book (1984 version): "ANCESTORS AND DESCENDANTS OF JEREMIAH ADAMS 1794-1883 of Salisbury, Connecticut, Sullivan County, New York, Harbor Creek, Pennsylvania and Vermilion, Ohio; including known descendants of his brothers and sisters , most of whom went to Michigan". The below info was extracted from page 87...

HIRAM DEMING ADAMS [Jason A., Selleck, Sr., Phineas, Isaac, John, Peter, Henry], fourth child, and third son, of Jason A. and Olive (Beers) Adams, was born 1823, in the state of New York; the date and place of his death have not been ascertained. He married, about 1847, perhaps in Jackson or one of the adjoining counties of Michigan, JULIA ANN DEAN , who was born about 1829, in New York state; her date and place of death not learned.

Hiram Deming Adams was shown as "Deming" in a census record (1850), but in the deeds of Jackson County his name always appears as Hiram D., thus distinguishing his transactions from those of his uncle Hiram, who, so far as is known, had no middle name.

The middle name was, very likely, given to honor some family connection with that surname, and may even have been a variant of the name "Damon" or "Demon". The name of one of his nephews was James Damon Crispell, and Hiram Deming Adams had two maternal aunts whose married names were Urana (Beers) Demon and Clara (Beers) Demon — the wives, respectively, of Aaron Demon and Pinkney Demon.

From the 21st of March 1844 to the 29th of November 1849, there were many deeds on
record in Hiram D. Adams' name. On the first date he purchased for $50., from George
and Ara Otto, land in Sections 23 and 26 in Liberty Township; on 10 February 1845 he
bought more land in Section 22, from Jonathan and Diantha Kellogg, the consideration being $100; and on 17 February 1847 he purchased land in Section 27, from Henry and Thirza Sweeting, for $300. There are two deeds relating to his sale of the land in Section 26, the first being on 14 January 1848, to George Holmes; the second on the first of March 1849 to William Crispell.

Seven deeds are on file whereby Hiram D. and Julia Ann Adams disposed of land in Section 22 of Liberty Township, all within a two-year period from 13 January 1848 to 29 November 1849. These deeds, in chronological order, were: Two deeds on 13 January 1848 to Timothy B. Colton; 24 March 1848 to Nancy E. Ostler; 28 November 1848 to Allen Kennedy (or Kenerdy?); 18 May 1849 to Alvin H. Potter; 27 August 1849 to Nancy E. Ostler; and 29 November 1849 to Lyman M. Lamphire.

The 1850 census of Jackson County shows Deming Adams, 27, a farmer, born in New York; his real estate was worth $800. His wife Julia was 21, also born in New York, and
they had a daughter Margaret, aged 2, born in Michigan. The second enumeration from
theirs showed Deming's father and stepmother, Jason and Ann Adams. Margaret may have been named for her great-aunt of that name, the wife of Selleck Adams, Jr., living in Albion, Calhoun County, not too far from Liberty.

Deming and his family were not in the 1860 census of Liberty. They had apparently
moved away from Jackson County about the same time that his uncle Simeon and brother Emery had gone to Gratiot County, but he was not found in that area.

Known child (there may have been more, born after the family left Jackson County) of
Hiram Deming and Julia Ann (Dean ) Adams, probably born in Liberty, Michigan:

Margaret (born ca. 1848 died ....No further record) and perhaps other children

(Although numbered, Margaret's record has not been carried forward in this history, since all that is known about her at present has been given on this page.)
