The daughter of Shreveport druggist, Leon Marks Carter; wife of KWKH founder, owner of Henderson Iron Works, William Kennon Henderson, Jr. They married in 1908. In 1910, the US Census listed them living with Josie's widowed mother, Mattie L. Parsons Carter on Crockett Street. By 1920, the Hendersons were still on Crockett with Mattie living with them, but their daughter, Kennon Henderson Connor (1909-1962) and son William Carter Henderson, Sr. (1911-1975) had joined the family. William Carter Henderson became a media pioneer also, establishing television station, KSLA, in Shreveport.
Josie entered the political arena in the late 1930's as a delegate in the Republican National Convention.
Josie passed away just one month after W.K. died in 1945.
