Per's 1st wife died the year after the birth of their last child. Three years later, Per married Maria Larsdotter. Per August was Per's first child to go to America. He was followed by Christina and Lovisa, then John and Mathildda, and finally Nils Frederick. Many years later, the youngest sons, William and Alfred, also came to America.
When Per was 65, his son, Per August, traveled to Sweden and brought Per and his stepmother, Maria, to Chicago where for 20 some years they lived with children both in Chicago and Indiana. Per came to be called "Peter" and Maria was also known as "Mary."
