Friday, June 24, 1966

Mrs. Emma BURKETT, 94, died at 5:45 a.m. today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dick MORRIS, R.R. 5, Rochester. A former resident of Green Oak community, she had been in failing health for the past month.

The daughter of Christian and Susannah DAWALD SMOKER, she was born at Chanute, Kan., July 3, 1871. Her first marriage was to Schuyler DAVIS and after his death she married Albert BURKETT, who also preceded in death. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church.

Survivors are the daughter, Mrs. Morris; two step-children, Mrs. Ledolia RIDOUT, Indianapolis, and Otis BURKETT, Rochester; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, and a brother, Albert SMOKER, Akron. A son, two sisters and three brotheres preceded in death.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster & Good funeral home with Pastor R. J. MUELLER officiating. Burial will be at the Akron cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday.
