Ladybug was my Mom's dog. She was the sweetest, most gentle dog I have ever known. She LOVED kids, which is a first for any of the Rutland dogs. Ladybug was roughly 8 years old, even though she frolicked around like a puppy. Her health began to decline a few months ago. My Mom had taken the dogs in for their yearly exams and the vet found a knot the size of a tennis ball on Ladybug's leg. She had surgery to remove the tumor and everything seemed to be fine. Little did we know this was cancer and it was spreading rapidly. My Mom took Ladybug back for a follow up appointment and the tumor had grown back twice the original size. After more tests, it was determined that the cancer had spread to her lungs and also to her spine. So, as of Thanksgiving 2010, she was given roughly a month to live. We were amazed when Mom was able to bring her to GA for Christmas! Looking at Ladybug, you would have never known she was so sick. Her best buddy is my Mom's other dog, Miley and they had the best time for Christmas! My Mom just did not realize how bad things had gotten for Ladybug until the morning she died. She always slept outside my Mom's bedroom door .. but this morning, she was whining b/c she was in pain. She was not able to get up to greet my Mom and she has thrown up on her self as well. My Mom knew it was time .... so she went ahead and took her to the vet to be put down. This was the hardest decision ... and we are all devastated. There will never be another Ladybug ..... I hope you enjoy your time at Rainbow Bridge baby girl .... because you were one of a kind for sure. Until we meet again sweet girl .... know that I love you and miss you terribly.

When tomorrow starts without me, Don't think
we're far apart ... For every time you think
of me, I'm right here,in your heart.

Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed.
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

"The Rainbow Bridge"

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow
Bridge because of it's many colors. Just this
side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of
meadows, hills and valleys with lush green
grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to
this place. There is always food and water and
warm spring weather. The old and frail animals
are young again. Those who are maimed are
made whole again . They play all day with
each other.

There is only one thing missing. They are not
with the special person who loved them on
Earth. So, each day they run and play until
the day comes when one of them suddenly stops
playing and looks up. The nose twitches!
The ears are up! The eyes are strong!
And suddenly one runs from the group.

You've been seen. When you and your
special friend meet, you take him or her
into your arms and embrace. Your face is
kissed again and again and you look once
more into the eyes fo your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together,
never again to be seperated.
