Barbara Beard-Pawsey passed peacefully from this life on Dec. 19, 2010, in Sacramento.

She was born to Wallace and LuEllen Beard Sr. on July 28, 1947.

Barbara moved to Vacaville when she was in kindergarten and continued her education there making many lifelong friends.

After high school, she moved to Sacramento with several school friends and worked for Pacific Bell. She relocated to San Diego in the early 1970s and moved to Woodland in 2001 to be closer to her family. Barbara worked for many years at University of California, San Diego where she once again made many friendships that lasted throughout her life. In her last position at the university, she served as the management service officer for Revelle College at UCSD. For the last 10 years, Barbara had been extremely active in the Vacaville Alumni Association and never missed a meeting.

She married a retired San Francisco police officer in 2007. They had a lovely wedding and reception at the Presidio Chapel in San Francisco. Barbara was truly a gentle woman and loved by many. She was surrounded by her friends and family as she peacefully passed on.

Barbara is survived by her husband of Vacaville; father, and brother of Woodland; and sister of Indiana. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, LuEllen Beard; sister, Claudia DeWitt; brothers, Wallace (Larry) and Bruce Beard; and nephew, Christopher Beard.

A Celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at 1 p.m., at the New Testament Church, 108 West Woodland Ave., Woodland, with a reception following at the American Legion, 523 Bush St., Woodland.
