He was born April 27, 1937 in Hot Springs, SD, a son of C. H. "Kap" & Inez E. Kappelman.
He married Jane Shaw, Nov 23, 1957. They had 2 daughters. They were later divorced.
He married Phung Kim Ho, Jan 17, 1992 in Las Vegas, NV.
He worked for Sears 27 years. He was working as an Operating engineer for Union Plaza for the past eight years.
Duane enjoyed fishing and camping. He loved the outdoors and traveling. Although he only had his new family for three years, it was three if the happiest years of his life.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife of Las Vegas, NV; his mother of Ogden, three daughters, Kari Kelly, Las Vegas, NV.; Keli Hansen, Burleson, Texas; Phoung Kim Ho, Las Vegas, NV.; two sons, Trong Ho and Larry Ho of Las Vegas, NV. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Sharon) Hill of Ogden; Barbara Brown of Dugway; and Mrs. Rodney (Connie) McKean of Ogden; three grandchildren, Sarah, Jennifer and Bobby; one niece, Kristal McKean; six nephews, Tracy Hill, Paul Kappelman, Christen Hill, Dusty Hill, Matthew Brown and Corey McKean; three great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held in Las Vegas, NV. on Aug. 13, with graveside services and burial in Eden Vale Cemetery in Las Vegas.
Memorial service to be held in Ogden, at 1 p.m, Saturday, Aug. 21, 1993 at the First Baptist Church on 25th and Jefferson.
