Arlington "Andy" R. Anderson, 81, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born February 3, 1929 in Waupaca, the son of Alfred and Olena Neilsen Anderson. On August 16, 1952 he married Meroe I. Mertz at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waupaca. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp, 1st Marine Division during the Korean War from 1948 – 1951. Andy was also a veteran of the Chosin Few Reservoir – Korea receiving a Purple Heart. He was a graduate of Waupaca High School, received his bachelors degree from UW Stevens Point, and his masters degree in education from UW Oshkosh. He taught at Mayville Public Schools, Weyauwega Public Schools, Roosevelt and Sabish Junior High Schools, Fond du Lac retiring in 1989. Andy volunteered at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King, WI and in April of 2005 he was recognized for 3250 hours of volunteered service. He was a member of Trier Puddy American Legion Post #75 and the Purple Hearts. Andy was a member of Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and ushered.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Meroe; one son, Brian (Christine) Anderson, Fond du Lac; two grandchildren, Angela Anderson, Samantha Gustafson; one sister, Dorothy Youngson, Waupaca; one sister-in-law, Ethel Mae (Kent) Mertz-Kiesow, Waupaca. He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters.


Funeral Information
VISITATION: will be from 4 – 7 PM Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7 PM on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. Shari Routh officiating. Burial will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, Waupaca, WI in the spring.
