Lance Cpl. Maung P. Htaik, 20, of Hagerstown, Md., died Jan. 1 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Surviving in addition to his parents, Hla and Flory Myint Shwe, are his brother, Dan Yar of Hagerstown and his wife Than Yaw Zin Nwe.
