Don Anderson of Tigard passed away peacefully from cancer. He was born in Klamath Falls to a pioneer family merged of the Spencers and Andersons. Don graduated from Henley High School. He joined the U.S. Navy and served on a destroyer in the Far East Pacific fleet during the Korean War. He married his high school sweetheart and returned to Oregon to start a family. Don worked in the wood products industry his entire career, mostly with Boise Cascade. He started out as a general laborer at a mill working his way up to foreman and then to claims manager at the corporate office. Don was an accomplished self-taught wood worker. A favorite day of his would be working on a special project in his shop with country music playing in the background and his wife and dog nearby. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda; mother, Lorraine Anderson; and brothers, Jerry, Ken, and Dave Anderson. Don also leaves behind his children and their spouses, Gary and Sandy, Dianna and Brian, and Tom and Kelcie; as well as seven beloved grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, in Calvin Presbyterian Church, Tigard, followed by a military service at 2 p.m. in Willamette National Cemetery.
