Mrs. Aurelia Jones Byrd, 104, died Thursday at her residence in Evans County. Mrs. Byrd was a native of Bryan County, a member of Bessenger Tabernacle Church and the Baptist Burial Society. She was also Mother of the Church.
She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Eunice Hilton, Register, Mrs. Irene Hogans and Mrs. Jeanette Moody, both of Jersey City, N.J., Mrs. Sarah Adams, Claxton, Mrs. Hazel Pittman, Atlanta and Mrs. Gertrude Hayward of Chidago, Ill.; two sons, Sylvester Byrd, Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Samuel Byrd, Claxton; one sister, Mrs. Christine Edmond, Pembroke, and 61 grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Harvey Burns, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The James R. Barnes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
