LOVE LAUGHS AT GRAY HAIRS.
Groom of 72 and Bride of 62 at Carthage
Love that kindles, sputters and burns in the hearts of the lad and lassie of sixteen and seventeen, continues to burn in the heart when the ages of sixty and seventy have been reached. Yesterday afternoon M. Wilson and Mrs. Mary Wescott, both of this city, entered the office of the probate judge and stated they wanted to get married. While the bride-to-be waited in the office the judge and Mr. Wilson went to the recorder’s office where a license was obtained. The groom confessed to the modest age of seventy-two and the bride claimed her age to be sixty-two. After the license had been secured the couple were married and immediately took the car for Galena, where the bride has relatives. Both parties are well and favorably known in Carthage, and the announcement of their marriage will be a big surprise to their many friends. The groom is a retired business man. Carthage Correspondent in Joplin Globe.
Mrs. Mary Wescott is the mother of Mrs. Frank Boughton, of this city. The happy couple came to this city yesterday and are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Boughton at their home on South Joplin street.
