Duane Hansen, 78, of Riverside passed away, Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Blackfoot.

Duane Hansen was born December 3, 1931 in (Riverton) Blackfoot, ID to Andrew P. Hansen and Agnes "Myrtle" Butler. He attended school in Blackfoot, Rockford, and Thomas. He acquired his GED on September 8, 1965. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict from November 5, 1952-August 18, 1954.

He married Barbara J. Farnworth on April 2, 1953 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a home teacher, Elders Quorum Sec., Stake Seventies Presidency, and many years in the scouting programs. He also served as a temple ordinance worker in the Idaho Falls temple for three years.

He made his living over the years farming, hauling milk, running heavy equipment, mechanic, driving truck, and retired in 1994 from driving bus at the INEL after 28 years and well over a million miles.

His life-long interest has been working with horses both in riding and driving, but his greatest interest was always being with his family.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; sons, Bobby (Mary Ann Reed) of Pingree, Terry (Debra Solomon) of Moreland, Kevin (Susan Kirby) of Kansas, Darrin (Andrea Moncur) of Nampa, ID; daughters Vanice Antelope Elsea of Utah, and Deanne (Robert) Schildan of Boise; 19 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren; four brothers, Andy E. of Boise, Lanny of UT, Dwight of WA, and Roland of UT and three sisters, Marva Morris of NV, Meredith Brown, Idaho Falls, and Bonnie Matthews of UT.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Dale, a sister Cleone Spackman, and two grandchildren, Scott and Vanessa.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at the Riverside 2nd Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Brett Williams conducting.

Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery with Military Honors by the Stewart Hoover Post #23.
