Funeral services were held for Alpheus Cockran Carlton age 85, of Translyvania,La. on Dec.21, 2010 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Providence,La. with Rev.Marvin Skipper officiating. everyone referred to him as A.C. or "Brother Carlton" A.C. was the owner of the East Carroll Delta News until he bought out the Banner Democrat when Mr. O.S. Brown passed away. he served his country in the Navy Signal Corp. A.C. was a member of the Harvest Assembly of God Church. he was known for his donations to Mercy Ministries, many different churches,ministers and families. A.C. was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Skipper Carlton in 2008. daughter Jane Banno; grandson Robert Bailey; father Rankin Carlton; mother Eliza Virginia Carlton; brother Addison Carlton; brother Charles Carlton; sister Frankie Alderman; A.C. was survived by his son Marc Skipper of Dallas,Texas; a daughter Evelyn Skipper of Translyvania,La; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister Virginia Queen of Orlando,Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend Rev.Annie Mae Farmer of Pioneer,La. A.C. often sang "Stroll over Heaven" at funerals and at Church. he was the song leader for many years at Pioneer Assembly of God. he would begin each Sunday morning with the song "We have come into this place to worship him"
