Ronald "Shorty" Bowman, 71, of Harrisonburg, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Bowman was born April 27, 1935, in Harrisonburg, and was the son of the late Crawford and Virginia Bowman.

He graduated from Hanley High School in Winchester and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked in construction and hardware sales for most of his life, retiring from the Farm Bureau in Bridgewater. "Shorty" was a devoted member of Faith Bible Church in Harrisonburg.

On Aug. 13, 1960, he married Emma L. Bowman, who survives. Surviving family also include two daughters, Ramona Blyth and husband, Gerald, of Swoop, Va., and Roxanne F. Dofflemyer and husband, Scott, of Harrisonburg.

A funeral service will be held 7:00 this evening (Monday) at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg with Pastors Buddy Farris and Josh Soto officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private Interment will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg
