A native of New Hanover County, she was daughter of the late Clifton Randolph Dillard and Mary Lou Johnston Dillard and stepdaughter of the late Margaret Homewood Dillard. Mrs. Meschke was retired from DuPont and from Tar Heel Drug as a pharmacist. She was a member of the First Christian United Church of Christ, the Alamance County Pharmaceutical Association and the UNC-Chapel Hill Alumni Association.
Surviving are two sisters, Eleanor Knott of Roanoke, Va., and Bettye Jo Horne and husband Robert of Burlington; one brother, George Dillard and wife Pat of Graham; nieces, Susan Horne, Margaret Knott and Mary Lou Simms; and nephews, Jim Horne, Jeff Dillard, Dave Dillard, Cliff Dillard, Bill Knott, Harold Knott and Tommy Knott.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington with the Rev. Mark Pickett officiating.
