Geraldine Garrow died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at her sister's home in Boise surrounded by her son, Pat, her two sisters and many loving nieces and nephews.

Gerry was born in Boise, Idaho on Aug. 30, 1930, the first child of Guy and Peggy Wade. She had a younger brother and two younger sisters. At the age of 15 Gerry lied about how old she was and went to work for Mountain Bell as a telephone operator. She spent most of her meager salary on her siblings, buying necessities; like clothes and new bedding. Her sense of responsibility was evident at a very young age.

Gerry and her beau, Jim, ran off on a motorcycle to Nevada to be married, a union that lasted fifty-five years. They raised two boys, Pat and Mike on their ranch/farm on Dry Creek. Jim passed away on Jan. 22, 2004.

Gerry was a successful business woman. She began as a real-estate agent then received her broker's license and started her own agency. She sold properties and invested in some, earning a very good living for her family. Almost everyone Gerry sold to or purchased from became a friend for life. They sent their children, friends, and neighbors to use her as their agent. After her son Mike's death by a drunk driver, Gerry and her special friend Betty Stadler (whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver) started the first MADD chapter in Idaho. Through these two mothers, MADD has assisted victims, educated the public, and worked to improve our laws in our state. In the past few years Gerry managed a family art collection. She traveled to New York and other large cities where the art was being shown. She worked with and became fast friends with art collectors, museum curators, and film producers. How proud we were, and how humble our "Gerry". After Jim died, both she and her son, Pat had some heath problems, and they cared for each other. She bragged about how fortunate she was to have such a caring son. Pat will miss his "little mother" more than any of us can imagine. That old saying, "To know her is to love her" went both ways. For her "To know you was to love you." We have been blessed to have had the opportunity to experience the total and unconditional love that Gerry gave us.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Peggy Wade; her eldest son, Mike (killed by a drunk driver at the age of 32); her husband, Jimmy; and her brother, Westcott, just 18 months ago. She is survived by her son, J. Patrick Garrow; sisters: Georgia Allred and Gail Johnson; and her brother-in-law, Richard Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews whose lives she greatly impacted. A viewing was held, Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 North Cloverdale Road, Boise, Idaho. There will be a reception following the service at Cloverdale Funeral Home's Reception Center. Interment will be at Dry Creek Cemetery at 3 p.m. Services are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.
