Mildred E. Bell, 89, of Iowa City, died Friday, October 19, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree is handling the arrangements for Mildred and her family. Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice in memory of Mildred. Sympathy notes may be left for Bell family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Mildred Evelyn Stych was born on March 18, 1918 in Lincoln Township, the daughter of Albert and Stella (Pechous) Stych. Mildred was united in marriage to Ralph E. Bell on October 24, 1939. Mildred was a homemaker all her life. She attended the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree and was a past member of the Eastern Star. Mildred enjoyed gardening, cooking, and assisting her husband in their farming operation.

Mildred will be deeply missed by two sons, Neil Bell and wife, Mary of Coralville, and Lynn Bell of Iowa City; two daughters, Nyla Jane Neumann and husband, Arlin of Moline, Illinois and Cay Ann Wieland of Iowa City; ten grandchildren, Natalie, Nathan, and Nicole Neumann, Kurt Wieland, and Michael, Eric, Andrew, Tami, Luke and Cassi Bell; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Rae Chabel and husband, Lloyd of Lone Tree, Iowa.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph in 1991; two sisters Clara Buline and Bertha Hudachek, and one brother, George Stych.
