James married Basheba McGuire on 22 Aug 1833. [The headstone birth date is most likely in error, particularly in light of the fact all censuses list his birth as 1813/1814 and the 1820 birth date, when compared to the documented 1833 marriage, would have him 13 at the time of the marriage). James and Basheba had eleven children: Sarah A., Polly, Andrew J. 'Bud,' Martha, James J., Elizabeth 'Betty,', America, Lavina 'Vina,' John Thomas 'Tom,' Amanda Sophronia, and Cornelia Helen. A few years after Basheba's death in 1882, James married Mrs. Nancy Falls on January 10, 1886.
