He was born in Vernal, Utah on March 24,1913, a son of Lewis and Elizabeth Slaugh Chivers. He married Lois Reynolds, later divorced. He was a building contractor, a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army, member of LDS Church.
Survived by a daughter, Mrs. George (Crlsty) Sutherland, of Granger; 2 grandchildren; 2 brothers and 5 sisters: Earl Chivers ot Vernal, Utah; Mrs. Lawrence (Jennis) Yack of Roosevelt, Utah; Norman Chivers; Mrs. Ettienne (Mary) Shepherd; Mrs. William (Verda) Edge; Mrs. Cecil (Betty) Blackwood, and Mrs. John (Jean) Darman of Salt Lake City.
Funeral services on Monday 1:00 p.m. at the Deseret Mortuary, 36 E. 700 South Street, where friends may call on Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday prior to services. Interment in the Salt Lake Cemetery.
