Vernon Leroy Dark, 1149 North Johnson street, died in Memorial hospital at 9 p.m. Friday after an illness of two weeks with heart ailment. Born in Niles, Mich., Aug. 17, 1905, he had lived in South Bend practically all of his life. In 1924 he was married here to Miss Edith Palmer, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Mrs. Ruth Boris, Kalamazoo, Mich.; Mrs. Katherine Decchelle, and Richard, both of South Bend; three grandchildren and a brother, Marvin, Lakeville, this county. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday in the Hollis chapel. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel with Rev. Carl Bosse, pastor of River Park Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Mishawaka. Mr. Dark was employed as yard foreman of the River Park Lumber company for 15 years.
