Dora Jean Austin went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on December 10, 2010. She was born in Springfield, Missouri, to Roy Clarence and Lina Rader Lindsay. She grew up in Wright County, Missouri and graduated from Hartville High School. She attended Draughns Business University, taught at Cope School in Wright County, and worked at O'Reilly Hospital in Springfield.
In 1944 she married Lee Austin Jr. they made their home in Springfield and later in Strafford where they lived for 34 years. They had three children, Bonnie, Patty and Mark. Later, when a little boy named mike needed a home, they adopted him. Dora Jean created a warm, peaceful home for her family, being a good example of a Godly mother and wife. She was an excellent seamstress, a talented pianist and piano teacher, a gifted Bible study leader and mentor to young women. Her daily prayer was "Help us to honor You with our lives".
Dora Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Mark; and her sister, Lucille Austin. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lee Austin Jr.; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Steve Winter, of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Patty and Robert Ingold, of Springfield, Missouri; a son, Mike Austin of Highlandville, Missouri and a sister, Ethelene Dailey, of Memphis, Tennessee. Her grandchildren are Lori Yarbourogh and husband Ben, of Murphy, Texas; Ryan Ingold and his wife Andrea, of Mustang, Oklahoma; Renee Steele and her husband Robert, of Springfield, Missouri; Kimberly Jackson and husband Eric, of Aberdeen, Idaho; Ben Winter and wif Rebecca, of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Dallas and Dillon Austin of Marsfield, Missouri. Great- grandchildren are Hudson, Nathan, Ella and ana Yarborough, Clay, Brock and Hope Ingold, Ryan, Mitchell, Dora Jean, Christopher and Austin Steele, Hattie, Hailey and Leif Jackson and Elija Winter.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday December 13, 2010, in Greenlawn Funeral Home East with visitation from 9 to 10 a.m., before services. A service will also be held at 3 p.m., Monday in New Home Freewill Baptist Church near Hartville, Missouri with burial following in Cold Water, Cemetery.
