Obit.Virginia Hazel Bayer, 80, a resident of Wasco [Oregon]. Died at a care facility
In The Dalles, on Wednesday, September 10, 2003.
She was born April 16, 1923, in Roundup, Montana, the older of two children toLaVerne and Hazel Carver. She grew up in Roundup and graduated from Roundup HighSchool in 1941. After graduation she moved to California, where she went to Secretarial school and subsequently worked as a school secretary.
She married her high school beau, George Letellier in 1945. During their
Marriage they moved frequently and lived in Washington, Idaho, South Dakota,Wyoming, Thailand and Nicaragua. One of the things they enjoyed doing was squareDancing. George preceded her in death in 1978.
Shortly after moving to Goldendale [Washington], she met Frank Bayer when heChaperoned a date Virginia had with a friend of his. She and Frank hit it off And were married November 1979 in Goldendale. They both loved to square dance And continued dancing well into their 70's. They moved to Wasco in 1981,Virginia said that was the longest she lived in one place since her childhood. Frank died in November 1999.
Virginia is survived by her brother, Vern Carver, Puyallup, Washington; step-
Children, Julia Donnigan, West Linn [Oregon]; Bryon Bayer, Grants Pass
And Helen Flores, Grass Valley [Oregon], 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, 2 great nephews and a great niece.
__ Funeral services will be held at Wasco Church of Christ at 11 a.m. onTuesday,
September 16, with Pastor Jerry Krewson officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Goldendale. Smith Callaway ChapelIs in care of arrangements.
