Avilla - Irvin Bruce Coplin, age 88, died on Saturday, Decmeber 11, 2010 at 5:37 AM at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born on August 13, 1922 in Woodburn, Indiana and was the son of Paul C. and Margaret Elizabeth (Pepple) Coplin.

Mr. Coplin graduated from Payne High School in Payne, Ohio and was in the class of 1939, and studied at Indiana Tech for a year. He came to the Noble County are in 1956, and was a farmer for his life's work, and also retired from International Harvester in Fort Wayne.

On September 13, 1943, he married Barbara Wasson in Spencerville. She survives in Avilla.

He served his country as a seargant in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Avilla Masonic Lodge No. 460 F & A.M., American Legion Post 240 in Avilla, and the Noble County Antique Gas and Steam Association.

Irvin loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved to discuss politics, tractors and farming.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Barbara Coplin, a son, Irvin Bruce (Sharon) Coplin Jr. of Avilla; two daughters A. Christine (Kenny) Butler of Avilla, and Kathryn Williams of South Milford. Eight grandchildren, Lee Butler, Matthew Coplin, Phillip Coplin, Amy Pierson, Tammie Fluke, Melinda Stackhouse, Rebecca Butler, and Joshua Williams. 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Also surviving are a brother in law, Jean w. Wasson of Auburn, two sister in laws, Eileen Coplin of Avilla and Rosemary Coplin of Albion. Many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son in law,Isaac Ed Williams and three brothers, George Earl Coplin, Carl Eugene Coplin and Marvin Coplin.

Funeral services for Mr. Coplin will be Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Brazzell Funeral Home, Avilla Chapel. Rev. Carter Hicks will officiate.

Visitation will be on Monday evening from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Masonic Funeral Rites will be conducted at 7:30 PM.

Burial following the funeral will be at White City Cemetery in Spencerville. Pallbearers will be Matthew Coplin, Phillip Coplin, Joshua Williams, Frank Stotler, Lee Butler, and Dennis Pierson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Coplin, Justin Coplin, Danin Fluke, and Clayton Fluke, and Lance Rogers.
