Worked With Father In County Office
A. Rozilla Beatson, 84, died at 1:15 a.m. today in Cherry Valley Nursing home, where she had been a patient the past five months.
Born April 22, 1868, in Burrit Township, Winnebago county, the daughter of John W. and Jane E. VanAlstine Beatson, Miss Beatson came to Rockford with her family in 1882.
After graduating from Rockford High school in 1890, she worked with her father in the county treasurer's office during his term as treasurer and remained with succeeding treasurers for 12 years.
In 1912 she went to Chicago, where she was employed by the Federal Reserve bank until she became a member of the Chicago real estate board and opened her own office. She had been active and resided in Chicago until a year ago October, when she retired and came back to Rockford.
Surviving are her sister, Mrs. R. Margaret Howell, 316 Alliance ave.; five nieces; and three nephews. Another sister, Mrs. Daisey B. Miller, died Nov. 18 in her home in Alma, Mich.
Private Christian Science services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
