Mona A. Anderson, age 67, of Black River Falls, WI, died Thursday evening, Sept. 9, 2010, in her home, surrounded by her family and friends, and under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice.
She was born in Black River Falls on January 11, 1943, to Ray and Orien (Bergerson) Thompson. She was raised in Northfield, WI, and she graduated from Jackson High School in Hixton, WI, in 1961. Following graduation, she received her nursing degree from Madison General College, and then she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing from Viterbo University in LaCrosse.
Mona married Mike Anderson on April 24, 1965, in the Upper Pigeon Lutheran Church, rural Hixton. Mike and Mona have resided in Black River Falls all of their married lives.
Mona was employed as a registered nurse at the Black River Memorial Hospital, the Veteran's Medical Center in Tomah, and the Family Heritage Care Center in Black River Falls. She retired in 1997.
She enjoyed raising and tending to her flowers, traveling with family and friends, especially on the "Northern Sky Train." Her true passion was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, friends, and patients she cared for.
Surviving are her husband, Mike; three sons, Todd (Stephanie) Anderson, Black River Falls, Thor (Bethany) and Thane (Krista) Anderson, both of Stoughton, WI; a daughter, Tia (Tom) Tracey, Coon Valley, WI; a brother, Ray Jr. (Dorothy) Thompson, Hixton, WI.; 12 grandchildren, Morgan, Ethan, Evan, Reghan, Samuel, Renee, Tyler, Drew, and Olivia Anderson, and Ben, Jack, and John Tracey; and her mother-in-law, Esther Anderson, Black River Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Orien Thompson; and her father-in-law, Herman "Ham" Anderson; and her brother-in-law, Chuck Anderson
Funeral services for Mona A. Anderson will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2010, from the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church, 115 N. 5th St.. Pastor Ramie Bakken will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be given in Mona's Name to the Black River Falls Area Foundation, P. O. Box 99, Black River Falls, WI, 54615.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Howard Spegman, Krohn Clinic, Dr. Matthew Goetz and Physician's Assistant,Katie Zahasky both of the Mayo Clinic, Black River Memorial Hospice, and special friends David and Marilyn Hoffman.
