ALVAREZ

Services are pending for Abran Nunez Alvarez, 76, 2326 W. Texas St., at West Funeral Home. He died today in a local hospital.

He was a member of the San Jose Catholic Church and was born in Barstow, Texas. Coming to Carlsbad in 1912, he farmed various farms in the Pecos Valley.

Survivors include five sons, Abel, and Amador, both of Albuquerque, Alvaro, Topeka, Kan., Adolfo, Lovington, and Ray, Honolulu, Hawaii; a brother, Cruz Alvarez, Delano, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Fernanda Ortiz, Carlsbad; and 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rosary services will be said today at 7:30 p.m. in West Funeral Home chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in San Jose Catholic Church with the Rev. Noel Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Alvarez, Adam Alvarez, Albert Alvarez, Andrew Alvarez, Fernando Florez and Juan Gonzales Jr.
