Merle retired from USAA in 2001 after 38 years of service. She was very active in square and round dancing, having held offices on the National Executive Committee as well as several offices in the local club. Merle never met a stranger and loved to help people by volunteering her services in several organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Cheryl as well as her aunts and uncles.
Survivors include her husband, Ovid; granddaughter, Alexandria; son-in-law, Derik; step-son, Mark; 2 step grandchildren, Alex and Taylor and several cousins.
