David Royse died at half-past 9 o’clock Monday morning, March 2d, 1903, at his home at this place (Grange City), of Bright’s disease. He had been confined to his room for over a year and was taken much worse about nine days previous to his death. He was born on April 24th 1841 in Fleming Co., Ky. He served in the Civil War and was a member of the 24th Ky. Reg., Co. D. He was married April 6th, 1865, to Miss Rosanah Kissick. Of this union nine children were born — three boys and six girls, two dying while quite young and Effie dying about two years ago. Mrs. Cud Snedegar of Wyoming, and Mrs. Clifford Heddings of Missouri, Misses Anna and Bertha, Wesley and Frank, with their mother survive him. He was a respected citizen and had many friends who mourn their loss. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones, and although we know it is hard to give up our loved ones we must not grieve as those without hope, for we know that we shall all meet again and enjoy the blessings of eternal life if we only trust in Him who knoweth what is best at all times and will keep us if we call on Him in time of trouble. He had remarked to the writer several times during his illness that he was ready to answer the summons. So, bereaved and broken-hearted ones, prepare to meet your loved one as we are warned more and more every day that sooner or later our time is coming. Deceased had been a member of the Christian church for 27 years. Interment in the Fairview burying ground Tuesday. “Owingsville Outlook”, Thursday, 19 March 1903, p. 4
