Ralph Roebuck
Services for Ralph P. Roebuck, 58, rural Overbrook, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa with the Rev. Richard Copeland officiating. Burial will follow in the Pomona Cemetery, where the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard will have flag folding ceremonies.
Mr. Roebuck died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at his home.
He was born July 25, 1952, in Lawrence, the son of Kenneth Woodrow Wilson and Wilma Vernetta Green Roebuck. He attended area schools.
At the age of 16, he joined the U.S. Navy. While serving he was stationed at NSA Naples, Italy. He received the National Defense Service Metal. He was honorably discharged in May 16, 1975, as an E3/HTFA.
Mr. Roebuck worked at C & H Trenching in his younger years. He later worked for Northshore Marina in Pomona. Most recently he was an electronic tech for Honeywell for 14 years. He received an electronics degree from Topeka Technical College in 1998. He recently graduated from the Flint Hills Tech College in Emporia with an associate's degree in power plant technology. This past May he graduated from Neosho County Community College with his welding degree.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Ottawa and belonged to the Patriot Rider Association.
He married Sandra Walker on July 8, 1989, at Tall Oaks in Linwood. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Michael Mocnik and Danielle, Lawrence, and Judson Williams and Elby Williams, both of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter Jacqueline "Jacque" Mocnik-Boyd and Ryan, Lawrence; brothers James Roebuck and wife Letty, Kansas City, Kan., and Craig Roebuck, Emporia; sisters Kay Roebuck-Elder and husband Paul of Ozark, Ark., and Debra Gary and husband William "Bill," De Soto; three grandchildren, Shelby Williams, Jeremy Havercamp and Jack Mocnik; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Carolyn Roebuck, and a brother, Donald Roebuck.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home; friends may call after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family suggests memorials to the Ralph Roebuck Medical Expenses Fund and/or the VFW Post 5901 of Ottawa, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
