"Mrs. Belle Allen Dies Tuesday; Funeral Today"
"Mrs. Belle Allen, 90, died at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Donald Peterson, near Ashkum. She had been ill for some time and her condition critical for several weeks.
Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Reilly Funeral Home in Piper City conducted by the Rev. Malcolm B. Sylvester. Burial is in Brenton Cemetery.
She was born April 6, 1862, at Platteville, Ill, a daughter of John and Drusilla Linn, and later moved with the family to Piper City. She was married to Heber Allen, whose death occurred in 1907. A daughter, Mrs. Nelle McClain also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her granddaughter, with whom she resided the past few years, two great grandchildren, Barbara and Jim Peterson and two sisters, Mrs. H. S. Davis and Mrs. C. B. Switzer, both of Piper City.
Mrs. Allen was a member of the Presbyterian Church here and active in its work and attendance as long as her health permitted."
