Jacob Snider is buried on the Old Snider Plantation near the site of the (now removed) Swinging Bridge over Back Creek. He operated a grist mill at this location. His grave marker is located near the location of the home near a farm implement storage shed.

According to Mr Donald Riggs (1980) there were more graves there but they had been trodden down by farm animals over the years. Jacob's son Abraham, who ended up with the farm after Jacob's death, is probably buried here also along with his first two wives and perhaps some children.

Jacob's widow Margaret Studebaker moved to Bedford Co., Pa. with her three younger sons after Jacob's death. She is buried there in West Providence Township about 1813 (now Snake Spring Township).

On October 6, 2007 a dedication service was held for Jacob Snider for his Revolutionary War service. The marker was provided by the Veteran's Administration.

It is believed that Jacob immigrated to Philadelphia from Germany arriving on the ship Fane on 17 October 1749. On board the ship were his father Jacob Schneider Sr, mother Anna Margaretha Seffer and siblings Christopher, Johan Jacob and Martin .

Jacob's grave stone on the Back Creek property that he owned near the Swinging Bridge over Back Creek provides his birth date as about 1732. The stone reads: MH3 (top line), 1790 (2nd line), JS 58 (3rd line). The interpretation for this is March 3rd 1790, Jacob Snider died at the age of 58. This is further supported by the fact that his will was probated on June 15, 1790.

Jacob Snider's will was written on November 28, 1787 and probated on June 15, 1790 in Martinsburg, Berkeley County Virginia. Based upon a grave stone inscription located on Jacob's land, it is believed that Jacob died on March 3, 1790 at the age of 58 which would give his birth year as 1731 0r 1732. Jacob's will names only his wife Margaret and his sons Jacob, John, Abraham, David, Joseph, George, Daniel and William. The daughters are not named but later court proceedings identify them.

After Jacob's death, his widow Margaret moved to West Providence Twp., Bedford County Pennsylvania. Jacob's son Abraham and daughter Hannah who married Jacob Riner were the only two of Jacob's children that remained in Berkeley County Virginia. Jacob's other older sons, (Jacob Jr., John, David and Joseph) were each willed land that Jacob owned in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. The younger sons, (Daniel, George and William) did not receive any land but they shared equally in the estate.
