"Ethel Ruth Blaine, 89, lifelong Harbor resident, passed away at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on February 12, 2010. She was born August 29, 1920 in Cosmopolis to Ruth and Oscar Bramstedt. She was raised in Cosmopolis and graduated from Aberdeen High School.
"On October 11, 1941, Ethel married Ralph L. Blaine. He passed away in 2007. She had worked at Sears until 1944 and was active with the Knife and Fork Club, a special weekly sewing group and had been a Girl Scout Leader.
"Ethel was a caregiver for several family members out of genuine love from the heart. She was a gracious hostess to all visitors and family where cooking and baking for others brought her great joy. Family was very important to her and she looked forward to every family gathering, especially the annual Christmas Eve parties that she and Ralph hosted. It is a 68 year family tradition in which Ethel was the proud hostess of for 44 years.
"Ethel is lovingly remembered by her children, Christine (Robert) Newcomb of Brady, Barbara (Jeff) Twidwell of Montesano, Margaret Blaine of Miami Beach, Florida, John (Kristin) Blaine of Gig Harbor and David (Carol) Blaine of Palmdale, California; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, Ray, Alvin and Stanley Bramstedt."
