Melissa 'Missy' McMahan, native of Jacksonville and Neptune Beach and resident of Atlantic Beach, passed away Friday, January 13, 2006. Missy loved her work as a Registered Nurse in pediatric oncology at Wolfson's Children's Hospital and she also cared for her patients at Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery Center and Beaches Surgery Center. An avid dancer, Missy toured with Disneyland in Tokyo and California.
Missy is survived by her parents, Bill Sr. and Theresa McMahan, sister Jennifer McMahan and future brother-in-law, Simon Duplessis, brother, Billy Jr. and Liz McMahan, sister Kelly and Jon Shearer, grandmother Mary Pauline McMahan, three nephews, two nieces, numerous aunts, uncles, loving relatives, dear friends and her beloved dog Maggie and cat Bella. Her hobby was loving her family and friends. We will remember her wonderful smile.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach. The family will welcome friends beginning at 3:00 p.m.. Memorials in her name will be greatly appreciated to the American Diabetes Association or the Jacksonville Humane Society.
